PRECAUTIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN TAKING YOUR DRUGS

While the medications prescribed to you are intended for your benefit, it’s crucial to recognize that they can pose risks to those in close proximity. To prevent inadvertent exposure, it’s essential to adhere to specific precautions throughout your treatment. Accidental absorption can occur through direct contact with the drug or by touching objects that have been in contact with it.

Here are precautionary measures to safeguard those around you:

Regarding Medication:

  1. Keep medications out of reach of children and animals.
  2. Store your drugs in the provided container, labeled with your name. For lotions, creams, or ointments, place the container in a clear, waterproof bag (e.g., Ziploc).
  3. Store drugs away from food.
  4. Do not crush or cut tablets.
  5. Do not break open or crush capsules.
  6. Return any unused medication and related waste to the pharmacy for proper disposal.

Special Measures During Therapy:

  1. Anyone handling your drugs should wear gloves. The same applies to those handling objects that have come into contact with your drugs, blood, urine, vomit, or stool. For lotions, creams, or ointments, two pairs of gloves are required.
  2. Despite wearing gloves, it’s crucial to thoroughly wash hands before and after handling these drugs.
  3. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid handling your medication or contaminated materials/objects.

These precautions may be adjusted by your physician or pharmacist based on your specific case. If you have any questions, contact the clinic where you are receiving treatment.
